What They Say... |
These
are a few reviews and comments we have received... and no we
did not make them up or pay anyone! We are however very grateful
for all the nice things said about us - and we do try to respond
positively to constructive criticism - we positively sulk for
a start! ;-) Called
in at The New Rocoe on Friday to catch RESURGENCE doing their
stuff. What a top band! We were treated to a tour through the
eighties featuring numbers by the likes Gary Newman (yes! Gary
Newman) to Joan Jett, Transvision Vamp and the Cramps - and
just when you start feeling all black and Gothy they hit you
between the thighs with a Kylie number. New singer Kerrie (looking
very dominatrix like) can certainly sing, and kept the hoards
of male admirers at the side of the stage in check and under
her spell right til the last song. Would you put on the site how much we all enjoyed Resurgence once again at the club Saturday night - got to be the most pleasent people we've met; they go out of their way to be nice to everyone. Helen's lovely. (Stop looking smug Helen - Webmaster). Alan Wood came to see 'em, and was most impressed. Dunno if it was the band or Helen's fishnets. I had to keep wiping his mouth, he was drooling so much. Love Jo's voice - shes unique - and the band are the buisness too! - 'Fast' Eddie Cooper, Bellhouse Road WMC, March 2007 The boys and girls from Resurgence livened up a rather below par bunch of peeps last night @ the Keys - I must apologise myself for turning up late too! The band did two hard working spots adding their own unique sound to such classics as Rocking in the Free World which I thought was as near as dammit as you can get to the real mccoy and Radiohead's classic Creep, even slotting in a a bit of The Ramone's I Wanna be Sedated which had wifey tapping her feet. All in all good nights performace by the boys and girls so stick Resurgence on your 'to watch' list as I don't think there will be many disapointments on that score - 'The Old Git Mav' - Local hero and chief reviewer of The Cross Keys, January 2007" 'Better than town!' - anonymous punter at the Coopers Arms, January 2007 First stop was to see our friends Resurgence play their first set at The Crimea Tavern. Approaching the bar was a pleasant sight with the bar staff resplendent in their Crimea Tavern T shirts, a nice feature. "Top Draw" Landlord Jimmy Duggan however was wearing a Resurgence T shirt and that is where we come in.....I was early enough to be able to speak with the band and what a pleasant group of people they are. Getting on to music matters, the band played a superb set of covers, and so well performed. They are now a very entertaining band with some well phrased vocals from Jojo. Her "attitude" whilst singing is very special, as if to say "Have some of this!" and yet off-stage she is a very quiet young lady. The bands lady bassist Helen adds to the glamour with well played Fender bass and a classic chic/goth mix of fashion. Guitarist's Mad Dog and Dave, a Bruce Springsteen lookalike, sounded well with a perfect blend of Engl and Fender amplification, with just enough volume to balance the very hard -hitting drummer Graham. You ought to have heard the snare! At the end of the first set I was buzzing as were the sizable crowd. To say I enjoyed it would be an understatement. I REALLY enjoyed it! - Steve Lally, Rock of the North, October 2006 Saw you for the first time at the Masons - wot can we say - f**k**n' awsome! Not the heavy rock that we follow but mint! - Peter Wright - September 2006 "...I loved every minute of it! Resurgence are a party band playing a wide range of material and they have a good time while they are playing it. I particularly enjoyed Pink Floyd's The Wall, and Dusty Springfield's I Only Wanna Be with You....heavily breathed on in the Resurgence style and The Cult's She Sells Sanctuary, amongst a lot of other very well presented songs. This band are a two guitars, lady bass player, drums, and a female vocalist with a lot of power and attitude. It was a very enjoyable end to the weekend" - Steve Lally, Rock of the North, Summer 2006
